Songs, Stories, and Surviving Out Loud

Song post – Unending

So.. This is where it all started. This was the first song I wrote as therapy that took on a life all it’s own. If you’ve listened to Brave or any of my other music, the tone of this one might surprise you. It’s angry, and bitter.

I started writing it in response to the exhaustion I felt from absorbing the news cycle. If you don’t know what I’m talking about specifically, it’s the unrelenting barrage of news about new laws and other attacks on the rights of transgender people. I don’t feel like I can stop and look away, because things change too quickly and too radically for that to be safe.. So I do my very best to stay informed, and that comes with a cost.

If this same stress has ever made you want to scream into the void.. This is the song for you.

I truly believe that some of the best resistance is being an open, living example of trans joy, and I do my best to live that. But sometimes we all just need to let it out, and hard rock is a perfect vehicle for that.

Do you like my softer style, or this raw, bitter, angry defiance? Don’t we all have some of both inside us? Let me know in the comments.
